A town located in Cumberland County, Standish Maine includes several villages including Steep Falls, Sebaco Lake Village, and more. In the early days, Standish was a hunting and fishing village for the Abenaki tribe. In 1750 the town was used for services during the French and Indian Wars by Captains Pearson and Hobbs. The town was incorporated in 1785 as Standish and is named for Captain Myles Standish. Standish is bordered by the Saco River and sits next to Sebago Lake. Interesting sites within the town include The Old Red Church, Daniel Marrett House, Standish Historical Society & Museum, and the Schoolhouse Arts Center at Sebago Lake.
